V2O5 Target for Pulsed Laser Deposition
V2O5 is a vanadium oxide that exhibits interesting optical and electronic properties and has been used in a variety of thin film applications.
Optical and Electronic Properties of V2O5
V2O5 is a wide bandgap semiconductor with a bandgap of approximately 2.4 eV. It exhibits interesting optical properties and readily changes its oxidation state making it and an attractive material for use in smart windows, electrochromic and enenery storage devices.
Crystal Structure of V2O5
Vanadium pentoxide V2O5 forms an orthorhombic Pmmn layer crystal with lattice parameters of a= 11.51, b=4.37, and c=3.56 Å. The physical layers with
normal direction along [010] are composed of distorted VO5 pyramids and VO6 octahedra sharing edges and corners.
Typical Substrates for Epitaxial Growth
Typical substrates for epitaxial growth of V2O5 include (0001) Al2O3, MgO, and (001) Si.
